Common faults in smart capacitors

1. Leakage phenomenon

When the smart capacitor is fully sealed, the actual production is not qualified or is not maintained in time. It is easy to cause the smart capacitor to be tightly sealed. The most common fault is the leakage of oil, which makes the oil inside the tank. The quality is impure, the insulation capacity is greatly weakened, and the damage is extremely great.

    2, belly phenomenon
Among all the faults of smart capacitors, the belly phenomenon is the most common one. When the smart capacitor works, the temperature will change greatly, and the smart capacitor casing will have normal expansion or contraction. However, if the box wall of the smart capacitor expands and deforms, there is a obvious bulging phenomenon, which affects the service life of the capacitor. It is very big, so we must make good purchases when choosing smart capacitors to avoid reducing the service life of capacitors due to the belly.

    3, protection action
In addition, we should pay attention to the protection of capacitors when using smart capacitors. The operation of capacitors requires the intervention of three-phase power. The three-phase current is very unstable, which will cause the capacitor to trip. It is easy to cause the fuse of the capacitor to blow. Capacitors have been used for a long time, and the capacitance value will change, so the smart capacitor should be maintained regularly.

    4, the phenomenon of explosion
The mechanical rigidity of the capacitor casing material is moderate, and the bearing capacity is limited. When the internal pole of the capacitor is freely discharged, the capacitor pole is broken down, and the energy inside the shell is instantaneously increased, which easily breaks through the outer casing and causes an explosion.

5, the temperature is too high
There are many reasons why the capacitor temperature is too high and causes a malfunction. The main reason is that the line voltage is too high, causing the inflow of higher harmonics, so that the capacitor current exceeds the rated operating current. In addition, due to the limitation of the working environment, the capacitor dielectric loss and aging cause the capacitor temperature rise too high, which in turn affects its service life.

6, the intelligent capacitor is abnormal
If the capacitor emits a special sound when it is working, it indicates that the device has failed. If the operation is accompanied by a "sweet" sound, it means that the tip of the plate is discharging. The “beep” sound is a dangerous alarm issued by the device, indicating that there is a partial discharge on the outside or inside of the capacitor, and the plate is immediately broken down, so stop running immediately to find the cause.

In daily life and industrial production, capacitor failures are not uncommon. On the one hand, because capacitors are lossy components, long-term work leads to structural aging; on the other hand, it is mainly human factors, improper operation and defects in the design of the capacitor itself, resulting in very short service life. Therefore, in order to ensure the safe and stable operation of the power grid, it is necessary to take effective measures to deal with the fault problem of the capacitor, thereby improving the working efficiency and service life of the capacitor.
